I love how wine continues to evolve, how every time I open a bottle it’s going to taste different than if I had opened it on any other day. Because a bottle of wine is actually alive – it’s constantly evolving and gaining complexity.

Following internships at the renowned Palatinate VDP wineries A. Christmann and Rings during the summer and fall of 2014, I attended a full-time course at the German Wine and Sommelier School Koblenz (DWS) to meticulously prepare for the Sommelier exam at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Koblenz. 


Key elements of the education were organoleptic science, food pairing, and wine recommendations, alongside oenology, viticulture, European and international wine law. The syllabus embraced the entire wine world. All European wine-growing regions were covered and its wines tasted as intensively as the those of the New World. The education was rounded off by business administration, economics, marketing, and wine management. The calculation of wine prices and the storage of wine were also part of the training. 


After I successfully completed the WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London, I passed the written, oral and practical examinations to become a Sommelier in June 2015. 


Following years of hands-on training, I began to study for the WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines at the DLR Neustadt and GBZ Koblenz. I achieved degrees in Wine Production, Wine Business, Wines of the World, Fortified and Sparkling Wines and finished a research assignment on Natural Wine. In January 2023, I was awarded the Diploma in Wines, accompanied by the title DipWSET®. The studies and exams were conducted in English, offering me the much-appreciated opportunity to combine wine and language, my big passions and professions.
